ASEAN is located in one of the world’s most ecologically vulnerable regions, making sustainable development an urgent and critical objective for its member states. Achieving this goal, however, demands a nuanced approach to a range of challenges, including strengthening international relations, harmonizing national legal frameworks with international standards, leveraging advanced technologies to meet sustainability targets, and balancing global cooperation amongst the ASEAN countries. Taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, a dynamic hub of ASEAN activities and a symbol of the region’s commitment to sustainable development, this conference will serve as a forum for scholars, private practitioners, policymakers, and civil society representatives to engage in meaningful discussions on these critical issues. The conference is hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (HCMUL), a leading institution for legal education and research in Vietnam. HCMUL is committed to driving innovative solutions and paving the way for a sustainable future in ASEAN. The conference organizers aim to create a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration among scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from ASEAN and partner countries. The goal is to explore the complexities of ASEAN's sustainable development challenges while seeking potential solutions and strategic directions. Key objectives include examining the relationships between international relations, legal frameworks in the pursuit of sustainability, identifying major challenges and opportunities for ASEAN's sustainable development, and promoting the sharing of knowledge and best practices between ASEAN and other regions.
